PORTLAND BOOMER GARDEN

The right decisions for the boomer garden means sending the right signals.

flowers1If it’s a weed, pull it.

If it’s not, leave it alone.

Couples who garden together need to agree on which is which.

One way is talking it out.

Another is writing it down.

Hand signals work so much better and encourage more enthusiasm.flower2Flowers yes.

Weeds no.

Does it get any easier?

The boomer garden responds to love and care. And the bird.

If you and your gardening pal get the signals right, it’ll make the garden right.

Think of the pitcher on the mound during a baseball game.

The catcher flashes a finger, maybe two. He might wiggle them a little.

Each move is for a certain pitch, which is based on the hitter’s scouting report.

Gardening is the same.

Give the right signal for the right results.

But what’s the signal when you find this lying on a rock?

SAM_0069I jumped back and screamed like a little, a little, a little sissy.

Damn that mole spooked me.

If he’d jumped I’d still be jumping.

How do these things make such a big mess when they’re so small?

Get a shovel and a bag, then get back to the garden survey.

Doing it together makes the sort of fun you…blog about?

SAM_0048How do you feel about weeds taking over after all the work you’ve done?

Exactly.
