ROAD LETTER FROM FLAGSTAFF

We hit Flagstaff in the dark looking for our road letter and motel. The road letter came at a fast food stop. It was the first fast food dinner of the trip.

ASPIRATIONAL LIVING STEP BY STEP

Aspirational living has it’s own vocabulary. “I would have done that.” “I could have done that.” “How hard can it be?” Sometimes reality sets in sooner than later, as it should.

RED FLAG IN MORNING, BOOMER TAKE WARNING

Ordinarily a red flag is a warning, a fire warning, a dire warning. See one of those on the news and get your boogie bag packed. That’s a big red flag, not the one for this post. Let’s look at the small ones just for baby boomers who have it all. And, based on current […]

LIVING TOGETHER, DYING TOGETHER, RIDING THE WAVE

Living together doesn’t always mean living under the same roof. The same goes for dying together. When we lose someone close, we lose a little bit of ourselves. But we never lose the shared memories. This is one of them:

WESTERN EDGE OF NORTH AMERICAN COVID DREAM

The Pacific Ocean at sundown with clouds catching the last dream of an Oregon day. If you still have dreams, do you share them? Do you know how to share a dream? Me neither, but I still try and work it out. See if this is helpful:

WOMEN STEER LOVE BOAT, THE REST OF US JUST SHOVEL COAL

An unmarried man can have a great idea, work through problems, and it will either fail of succeed in some measure. Work hard enough and things get changed.   A married man knows this will never happen.   Instead of a great idea to dive into to, the idea becomes a conversation. If […]

SHARING EARTH WITH LIVING THINGS, EVEN THE CREEPY ONES

“Quick, where’s my camera?” he said. “What?” she said. “Birds.” “Camera? Here it is.” “These birds are huge. Look at that formation.” “What are they?” “Birds. Really big birds. What are they?” “I don’t know.” “You don’t know these birds? Since when would you even admit it?”

OVERSHARING, TMI, SETTING NEW BOUNDARIES FOR CHANGE

Oversharing the wrong thing for the right reason.   If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times? You might want to ask why you keep hearing the same thing. Either you haven’t changed, or the people telling you the same thing haven’t change. If the same person keeps telling you the same […]
