BLACKENED BLOGGER WORLD LIGHTENS UP

blogger world

Blogger world wisdom says keep your post short with a snappy title.

SO GET BUSY AND WRITE?

If they could say it and make you believe it, a blog guru would say write a great title and skip the post to concentrate on the next snappy title.

“Headlines,” they growl “Headlines make the post.”

Pretty soon you’re growling too, but for a different reason.

Concentrating on headlines throws your blog-posting routine so off kilter that all the other pieces slide off your desk.

Headline? Okay. Now what?

What do you say after posting “THE WORLD ENDS SATURDAY” when it’s the next bright Monday, or sunny Tuesday?

The best advice comes from The Rolling Stones.

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black

That’s what you see in blogger world. Darkness. Smack yourself on the head for effects.

Instead of 7 Ways To Make More Money In Animal Husbandry, or Ten Sure Fire Tricks To Cross An International Border, paint it black.

But you need a plan to start.

The first step is admitting the problem.

You’re broke and you’ve always been broke. How do you change that?

Teaching people how to smuggle parrots out of the Brazilian jungle is no a road to riches. Besides, you’re allergic to feather pillows. How would a bird work?

Giving travel advice when you haven’t stepped beyond your town border isn’t helpful either. You get lost in your own driveway.

I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

Turn your head, blogger.

Girls dressed in their summer clothes are not the girls for you in blogger world.

Find girls in dingy housecoats who tip cigarette ashes into coffee cups they think are empty, forget, then drink it.

The fashion world isn’t for you. Paint it black.

Do you read French Vogue, Glamour, or W? In your mood you wouldn’t know summer clothes from a gunny sack with head and arm holes cut in the edges.

I see a line of cars and they’re all painted black
With flowers and my love, both never to come back
I see people turn their heads and quickly look away
Like a newborn baby it just happens ev’ryday

Just to drive the point further home, people look away quickly, and you think it’s you?

You’re a blogger. No one knows you.

You dream of blogger-life, the freedom, the riches, but you’re not there.

Paint it black, blogger.

No more will my green sea go turn a deeper blue
I could not forsee this thing happening to you
If I look hard enough into the setting sun
My love will laugh with me before the morning comes

This is where things get dicey. You don’t see tomorrow yet, so you doubt there is one.

You’re down so far so long it feels like home.

Listen blogger, do not look into the setting sun. You can’t feel worse if people turn away when you’re blind. You can’t paint it black if you’re blind, it’s all black.

Why bother? Because you live in blogger world.

I look inside myself and see my heart is black
I see my red door and it has been painted black
Maybe then I’ll fade away and not have to face the facts
It’s not easy facing up when your whole world is black

If you’re whole world is black it means you’re wintering at the North Pole or somewhere near by.

Open a window, or door, to see where you really are. If it’s blowing -60 outside, it might be the North Pole and your whole world is black.

At least now you know what to expect in blogger world.

Now shut the door before you turn black from frostbite. Do you remember the door color?

I see a red door and I want it painted black
No colors anymore I want them to turn black
I see the girls walk by dressed in their summer clothes
I have to turn my head until my darkness goes

Let’s review.

Your world is black because you fell off your writing schedule? Your literary production is off and you want the world to know.

You see a red door and you want it painted black. Okay, answer this:

Are you a blogger, or a tagger?

Painting a red door black is an act of vandalism, not art.

If you need to add something to a red door, why not follow the footsteps of fellow blogger Martin Luther when he nailed his 95 Theses on the Castle Church door.

This is the man who translated the New Testament from Greek to German; the man who was the most widely read author of his generation; who started the Protestant Reformation.

You could do a lot worse, once the darkness goes.
