BLOG TRAFFIC FLIPS THE BIRD TO BLOG PERSONA

Blog traffic is supposed to tally daily readers, but is there a hidden message in the pattern?

Based on expert blog advice, traffic is key. No traffic means no readers. The real question posed, but not clearly articulated, is ‘what kind of readers?

Based on comments, which are good indicators of who reads a particular blog post, I don’t wonder.

And, since boomerpdx is not a single issue blog, readers who comment usually have more interest in one post than another.

But that doesn’t make them single issue readers, not when they have both oars in the water and rowing strong. Click that link for a great example.

Blog Traffic Persona

Persona: a person’s perceived or evident personality, as that of a well-known official, actor, or celebrity; personal image; public role.

I’ve heard, you’ve heard, how people present themselves on social media platforms and how great everything is, starting with them.

And that’s a good thing. Better to have an outlet for that if you need one.

Developing a Blog Persona is one piece of advice I didn’t take. After WordPress, genesis, and yoast, I drew the line and decided to let the work speak for itself one post at a time.

But, that’s just me, and I was a Selfie King before selfies were cool. Yeah, that guy.

But I’m not this guy: I was walking around with a group in Portland. One of the guys, the friend of my wife’s friend, was a world famous artist we met at the Halloween parties they organized together.

Were they fun? Just the Best. Halloween. Parties. Ever. If I never go to another party of any kind, I’ve already been to the best.

So we’re walking around town and he excuses himself for selfies to promote his work. From a relaxed guy sharing keen insights, he turned into a showman.

Gone was the intellectual; it was party time and the energy he gave his camera glowed.

I’d always wondered how people looked so wonderfully wild. Now I knew.

What does my blog traffic suggest to me? Thanks a lot.

What does it tell readers? Come on in, buddy, and read a while.

Leave a comment on a worthy issue and you may make it to the front page.

How’s that for persona?

The top spot is the place to be.
