GREEN CORNER OF MIDDLE EASTERN MESA

GREEN CORNER

When it’s cooked right, a plate and a picture of the same dish should look the same?

Green Corner is off Southern and Alma School. I’ve been there,” I said, flooring the rental car through the round-about on Bass Pro Drive.

“So you know the way? I should stop looking at the GPS?” she said. “Fast corner.”

I’d been there five months ago with DD. Alma School was a fast street crossing Southern. I needed to be in the right side of the road.

“Which way do I turn on Southern?” I asked, the four cylinder engine howling.

GREEN CORNER

It’s hard to imagine a plate looking this good, especially with the flavors of Green Corner kick in once I opened the door.

“I think you passed it,” she said.

“Green Corner is called Mesa’s hidden gem for Middle Eastern food,” I said.

“Not hidden enough. GPS says we’re there,” she said.

GREEN CORNER

My first time at Green Corner was so good I wanted to bring my wife. Five months later we’re there looking at luscious food pictures. Could the real stuff be as good?

Green Corner Combo: Looking prettier than any picture and better tasting than ever.

GREEN CORNER

The Food Network turns everyone into a critic, from Chopped to Beat Bobby Flay. The entire network would have loved this plate.

The true test is getting it right, from preparation to plating.

“You didn’t say it would be so beautiful,” she said.

“It is, isn’t it,” I said. My camera hand twitched just a touch before turning into my scoop hand.

“Let’s get some take out for later,” she said.

“We could get the same thing we’ve got now,” I said.

“Tomorrow we’re coming this way. We could stop here for a bite,” she said.

I carried a bag with three go boxes inside. A grocery haul.

“I have an appointment in Tempe and this is on the way back,” she said.

If she’d said, ‘Let’s rent a house in the neighborhood and we could walk here,’ it would have made sense in my fog of great food.

“We’re not too far away in any direction,” I said.

Yelp loves Green Corner.
