HOMEWARD: THE DREAM AND THE REALITY

homeward bound

Homeward bound isn’t so much a destination as it is a memory.

Sure you can go home, but is it really home if you’re gone a while?

Yes it is, and it’s the memory that defines your relationship to where you are.

Are you home? Close to home? Check your look in the mirror to see if you look like anyone else around you.

If not, you’re wearing a sign showing where you come from. And that’s a good thing. Represent.

The problems start when you can’t figure out who you are or where you come from. What’s next? Attaching personal identity to media figures and celebrities.

It gets worse when someone’s identity is wrapped up in some sports team. While it’s easier to shop for their birthday and Christmas presents, they’re losing something.

What’s that called? Fear.

They’re losing the fear of who they want to be, who they used to be.

What you see is an authentic person who has sorted themselves out, for better or worse. When two people come to the same conclusion, it’s time to start making a home.

And that, my friends is the first step to being homeward bound.

I’ll do the math: One plus one equals one. That last one is the relationship, and it’s a Big One.
