LOVE TRAIN? TICKETS PLEASE

love train

Does the love train run on time?

That’s the question, because you want to jump on board.

Instead of the love bus, or love taxi, or boat, it’s train or nothing.

So, how long is long enough to wait in the station?

As long as it takes.

And here’s why:

Last night I went to a 40th anniversary party.

I’d been at the wedding forty year earlier.

It was a sweet time seeing how things have turned out.

Some of the people had longer marriages, some had new wives, but you could see them all getting on the love train for each other.

The weird thing is saying forty years like it was yesterday. When you’re 67 and look back at twenty seven looking back at the future weird.

This couple met in college, got married soon after, had two kids, and made it work.

The key to a long marriage is making it work, and you do the work.

Who Said The Love Wagon Is Work?

If you jump on the love wagon, one of you either handles the steering, or doing the pulling.

You need to decide who rides in back sipping champaign.

One of you will wear out sooner than the other. Which one is anyone’s guess.

But we’re still talking about work.

Doing the marriage work means more than effort, but effort is important.

Work at being less selfish. Save the last piece of pie for the other person.

If you never buy ice cream because you’ll eat it all until it’s gone, bring a half gallon home and show how long you can make it last.

Will power takes work. Love train passengers like will power.

They also like the togetherness while someone else shovels coal.

Is A Love Boat More Work Than A Love Train?

The last time I was on a boat I worked to stand up, worked to keep my lunch down, and worked to avoid going overboard.

It was a memorial boat, but still a boat.

The same rules apply.

It’s work, lots of work, unexpected work, time absorbing work.

And that’s just the boat part.

I’m Sticking With The Love Train And So Should You

love train

You’ll always have a soundtrack.

Take me to the station
And put me on a train
I’ve got no expectations
To pass through here again

Once I was a rich man and
Now I am so poor
But never in my sweet short life
Have I felt like this before

You’ll sing about the midnight train together.

He’s leaving
On that midnight train to Georgia
Said he’s going back
(Going back to find)
To a simpler place and time, oh yes he is
(Whenever he takes that ride, guess who’s gonna be right by his side)
I’ll be with him
(I know you will)
On that midnight train to Georgia
I’d rather live in his world
Than live without him in mine

You might be waiting at the station a long time and not know it?

One toke over the line, sweet Jesus
One toke over the line
Sitting downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line

Waiting for the train that goes home, sweet Mary
Hoping that the train is on time
Sitting downtown in a railway station
One toke over the line

You might be confused.

I lost ten points just for being in the right place
At exactly the wrong time
I looked right at the facts there, but I may as well have
Been completely blind
So, if you see me walking all alone
Don’t look back, I’m just on my way back home
There’s a train leaves here this morning, and
I don’t know, what I might be on

Where are you headed on the Love Train?

I’ll tell you. Here’s your itinerary:

You’ll travel happy tracks and sad

through good times and bad

and there’s a seat for you

a seat for two

where you’ll ride hand in hand

and make your stand

Tickets please. Tickets.
