LOVING LIFE MEANS LOVE IT ALL

LOVING LIFE

Loving life is expected, required.

But how do you know if you love life enough?

You write a love poem to a loved one that includes everyone on earth.

How hard can that be?

Your trusted poet blogger here on boomerpdx says, “Do it.”

Will it start with:

Roses are red, violets are blue,
I like flowers, how about you?

Or,

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

Or,

O my Luve is like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June;
O my Luve is like the melody
That’s sweetly played in tune.

Love Poem Or Love Song?

LOVING LIFE

While love brings its surprises
and you find the love of your life,
Do everything that matters
For a husband and wife.

Find love surprises
for her and for him,
Take a dip in the ocean,
even if you can’t swim.

Travel together
and see all the sights,
Climb that mountain
with your fear of heights.

Then write a love poem
to read and see,
For the new and long-term

Loving Life With My Wife

LOVING LIFE

It’s easy on warm days of sun and sand.

At least it should be easy.

But, love is never easy.

The unfortunate truth is my wife could have done better than marry me.

I can say that with certainty since I’ve met some of her former dates.

The certainty comes from me remembering them, but they don’t remember meeting me.

After pretending we’ve never met, I shook their hands and watched them check out my wife.

They looked my girl over and knew they could have done better than who they married.

I also know, after three and a half decades of married bliss, she would have divorced every last one of them.

By my calculations she would be on her third or fourth loser husband by now if not for me.

Where’s that love poem?

So, she could have done better in the husband department, eventually, but she would never do better than the kids we raised together.

We walk in their son-shine, which is made brighter by the women they married.

It’s a group I’d want to join. Lucky for all I don’t need to crash the party.

Love Runs Hot And Cold, So Hang On

LOVING LIFE

One day it’s all laughter and sunshine and drinks at sunset; the next is snow and cold.

And more cold.

To add to the mood it’s raining and hailing.

But love finds a way when you face life challenges together.

“This would be miserable alone and cold.”

“I can’t imagine.”

“I don’t want to imagine.”

“This is what happens when you fly to summer in March and come back.”

“Why did we come back?”

“That’s what everyone says when they get back from Hawaii.”

“I never believed it until now.”

“Do you want to go back?”

“I’m thinking.”

Loving Life With Sonnet 116

Sonnet 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand’ring bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

If William Shakespeare is too much, here’s Buddy Holly saying the same thing.

I’m a-gonna tell you how it’s gonna be
You’re gonna give your love to me
I wanna love you night and day
You know my love a-not fade away
A-well, you know my love a-not fade away

My love a-bigger than a cadillac
I try to show it and you drive a-me back
Your love for me a-got to be real
For you to know just how I feel
A love for real not fade away

I’m a-gonna tell you how it’s gonna be
You’re gonna give your love to me
A love to last a-more than one day
A love that’s love – not fade away
A well, a-love that’s love – not fade away

That’s loving life with a good down beat and a Fender Strat.

Are you feeling it?
