PORTLAND BABY BOOMER HEALTH TRENDS ACCORDING TO CNN

IGNORE AT YOUR OWN RISK

SET THE TABLE. IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO START

No 1: ‘Boomeritis’

The smart guys say slow down, take it easy.

They might be right.

If you haven’t benched 300 by now, maybe it’s not a good goal.

Run a marathon?

Talk to a podiatrist about the cost of orthotics. If you must hit the 26+ miler for your bucket list, lose weight first.

Run thin from the beginning.

No. 2: Brain games

You spend all day on a computer and all you want to do when you get home is avoid the screen.

Listen, during the day you’re putting out. Get home and put it back in.

Gear your brain both ways, then when you don’t have the brain drain, you’ll have the surplus.

You’re smart enough to do that. Start now.

No. 3: Sexually transmitted diseases

If you know a single baby boomer, tell them there’s more of them on the roster.

STD and throat cancer? It happens.

Find a reliable partner.

No. 4: Hepatitis C

They call it a ‘silent epidemic.’ Like KIA in the ‘Forgotten War (Korea)’ you’re still dead.

No. 5: Free preventive care

Free and ‘covered by insurance plans’ are not the same. Will boomers go to the doctor for screenings and age appropriate tests? If they don’t, let’s hope they don’t complain to loudly. There’ lost of them. It could get noisy.

Boomerpdx says find an N.D., a Naturopathic Doctor. These are the guys who pump up your immune system and give you the OK to face life without fear, at least no more fear than you always had.

Turn down the noise and focus on what makes you you in others. Then explain it to them.

Baby boomers are good explainers.
