PYTHON PLANTS VOTED OFF THE TRELLIS

python plants

Python plants are like real pythons: they squeeze like nobodies business.

Over eighteen years I’ve had a few go rounds here, one of which included cutting all of them down.

They grew back stronger.

I’ve had discussions with the Lead Gardiner about replacing them all together.

It’s never been a fruitful talk. Until yesterday.

Along with these python plant bastards, I’ve got trees, big trees, that need some big work.

I talked to the tree man about the python plants. My wife/Lead Gardner listened in.

“These plants are overgrown and destroying the trellis.”

“Yes, it looks like they are crushing the poles and breaking the fence like a snake. They are no longer circular.”

“Like python plants taking over. What if we took them down and started over.”

“Yes, that would solve the problem.”

My wife agreed and we all decided it should happen sooner than later. How soon? Right then in case anyone changed their minds.

While the other two talked about trees I broke out the loppers and saws and went to town.

I’d been warming up for a good lift and used the moment to go after the plants in quick time.

I got most of it done before the tree man left. He saw my work.

“Am I hired?” I asked.

We all had a good laugh along with a new pile in the front yard.
