REAL STRUGGLES? AREN’T THEY ALL

Real struggles begin with similar first words.
From, “It’s a boy,” to, “It’s a girl.”
Momma says good, daddy says good.
What’s missing?

The possibilities at birth are, “It’s a boy,” and “It’s a girl.”
As a graduate of the Army Medic School I have opinions, informed opinions.
As a history graduate from an accredited college, I have certified opinions based on doing the work.
And, let’s not forget I was in the room for two home births.
Needless to say, much of the current bullshit in the media, on social media, and what I hear eavesdropping on everyone around me, floats by like a cloud, a big brown cloud, sounds off.
When I say “I’ve done my own research” it’s different than Jimmy repeating what he’s heard on Fox News.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Doing my own research means dipping into ‘Original Sources’ also known as ‘Primary Sources.’
Instead of presenting boomerpdx as some shit-talking, click-bait, rag of a blog, I work to keep things on track and relevant.
Doing a blog at all during the Podcast Era ought to tell you all you need to know about real struggles and commitment around here.
So for you lost souls who come here intentionally, or get accidentally dumped here from a mistaken google search, feel free to quote me as a reliable source on any topic.
Sounds good, no?

Ask Yourself ‘Who’s Doing The Talking’

Real struggles begin with doubt.
Am I doing the right thing? Am I doing it right? Shouldn’t I be doing something else.
There you are living your life, making plans, talking it over, and the doubt seeps in.
‘If I just did that, everything would be better.’
‘I need to represent better, but represent what?’
‘I’m better than them, but no one knows.’

Then things get desperate when you need to justify yourself as the person you believe you are.
You know who you are after listening to your preacher, your clergyman, the man with the mega-church on television, and more television news on Fox.
Go ahead and ignore the $1.6 billion dollar case between Fox and Dominion.
Why? Not because Fox lost.

Fox has also said it doesn’t expect the settlement to affect its operations.
“We don’t expect significant operational effects or changes to our business given our cash flow, strong balance sheet and the health of our business,” the company said in a statement after the settlement was announced.
MoffettNathanson’s Fishman said everything indicates the company will be able to run its business as usual.
“It isn’t clear there has been much, if any, impact of these lawsuits on Fox News’ viewership and business,” he said.

Let Good Sense Prevail With Real Struggles

One impact crater? Tucker Carlson.

Fox hasn’t commented publicly on why it cut ties with Carlson, but it came after Fox News last week agreed to pay voting equipment company Dominion $787.5m to settle a high-profile defamation lawsuit.
Carlson’s stunning departure is reportedly connected to a lawsuit filed by his former senior booking producer Abby Grossberg, who claimed she faced sexism and a hostile work environment.
Fox News said in an official statement that Carlson and the network had “mutually” agreed to separate.
On Monday, Fox News immediately replaced Carlson’s slot with a rotating roster of hosts until a permanent replacement can be found, the network said. In his video on Wednesday, Carlson implied his fans had not seen the last of him.
“Where can you still find Americans saying true things?” he said. “There aren’t many places left but there are some and that’s enough. As long as you can hear the words, there is hope. See you soon.”

From the same article:
Carlson was one of the network’s biggest stars, and gained a large following while spouting xenophobic and racist rhetoric on his show, Tucker Carlson Tonight. He left Fox News without explanation on Monday.
News outlets have reported that Carlson was fired on the personal order of Fox owner Rupert Murdoch for, among other things, using vulgar language to describe a female executive.

Americans Saying True Things

This is one of those True Things.
Your future does depend on you.
And you’re in good hands if you’re a stable, understandable, person and not some fucking screamer blaming everyone for everything you don’t like, or used to like before someone said, “Don’t like that beer.”
Being clear-headed and open to new ideas is the future.
Harking back to old prejudice, reintroducing new racism, and treating women like they don’t know who you are after you open your mouth, is not the future.
Listening to a retread politician claim their victories and wins while they were in office is reason enough for another round?
Not the future.
Listening to a grown man you’d escort off your property if they showed up with a broken vacuum saying, “only I can clean your house.”
Not the future.
Instead, look at your wallet, check your plans, and count your blessings that you have a wallet and have plans and vote for the party that helps people rise up.

This Is The Off-Track Future Of Real Struggles

If you’re not in the cool group you can’t be cool.
You want equal rights for everyone, including women.
The American Constitution is our national GPS.
The Bill of Rights fine tunes the GPS to the location of YOU.
But some over-inflated party boy decides it’s his time to speak his mind, to let it out, and shocker of all shocks, people listen.
How does some aging dump of a man with his nose turned up one moment, his chin turned down the next, connect with salt-of-the-earth folks who’ve been wary of men in makeup, sniffy noses, and an attitude of disposability toward women?

Maybe This Helps

Real struggles begin in common places.
“Tell me about your childhood,” kind of places.
When someone asks the same night you met them, it can only go wrong.
Do they want to know about your childhood, do they want to tell you how easy you had it compared to them, or do they save it all up for, “That must have been very nice for you.”
When a man can’t stand his ground while his partner tell him he’s wrong, he finds new ground.
Then when he finds out no new ground is available to the likes of him, he plows into television.
He’s so good he earned a star on the Hollywood sidewalk.

But what if that’s not enough?
Some people do their nefarious deeds in the shadows and hope no one turns on the lights.
Others do the dark work that resulted from a poor up-bringing in broad daylight and call it normal.
Normal. Right?
Right, boss. You are right every time. Normal. It’s amazing.
Ask yourself, which ‘Normal’ are you?
Me? I’m the normal that seeks to know the difference between shit and Shinola.
Insider Tip: They smell different.

  1. Great one today. My Dad said often “You don’t know Shit from Shinola” He really said that forcefully when my older brother oiled the clutch on Dad’s very expensive grass cutter. But he said it often to both of us although I don’t remember him saying it to my younger brother…12 years younger.
