INTERNAL POLLUTION IN A BABY BOOMER WORLD

Internal pollution is the filter we see through. It’s our judgement, our favoritism, our prejudice, and bias. What we see runs through our up-bringing, education, life choices, and judgement. Did I mention judgement? Add cataracts to that mess and you’ve got a problem. Cataracts?

FOLLOWING ORDERS: A PRIMER

Too many carry the idea that following orders eliminates personal choice. It doesn’t. Remember, when you’re ordered to do something you can do it, or not do it. That’s the first choice; let’s start there. From an experienced order-taker, this is the initial question you ask yourself: ‘Who the hell is giving orders around here?’

GOOD JUDGEMENT IN CONSEQUENTIAL TIMES

Let’s be frank about the notion of good judgement: if you never do anything of consequence, any sort of awareness is fine. Why? Because it doesn’t really matter. The problem is influence. Too many punks have found their ‘voice’ in social media. Instead of yelling at people to stay off their yard, they’ve done some […]

EXTRA EFFORT GOES TO THE TOP

With a little extra effort, an image of the Fox Theater in Portland, Oregon could be an entire universe. I’ve heard stories, read interviews, of famous directors who said movie theaters were their whole world growing up. I saw a movie about a kid whose whole world was the village theater. With a little extra […]

PODUNK TOWN, OR YOUR HOMETOWN

Nothing Explains Feelings For A Hometown, Your Hometown, Than Traveling Though Others. Drive down I-5, Highway 99, 101 down the coast, or 97 east of the Cascades, and you roll through one podunk town after another. You don’t even have to go far off the road to see them. Just drive by, take a look, […]
