YOUR MOMMA IS SO PORTLAND MOMS BLOG THAT…

She high fives Portlandia

Portland baby boomerpdx blogger meets Portland Moms Blog blogger in a parking lot.

Does a web address across the back window of a car in Haggen’s parking lot mean ask me about it?

So I did.

Jen Knight turned out to be sunshine on a cloudy day; the Portland Moms Blog founder, owner, and power source.

During our offline chat about online things, Ms Knight showed the sort of business savvy you learn from experts.

Partnerships with local writers and companies develop the sort of relationships that grow deep roots.

Her enthusiasm for this time in her life was contagious.

It seems the infection is going around the whole country. The City Moms Blog network of Sister Sites covers more territory than Johnny Cash singing I’ve Been Everywhere.

And what, you ask, does this have to do with baby boomers and boomerpdx?

She flew a loop de loop around the Fremont Bridge.

Currently boomers are being scourged as the source of the most pitiful generation to ever call America home.

The millennial generation that sprang from baby boomer loins is the most pampered, helicoptered, over-nursed children in history.

Or so we’re led to believe.

The only thing that inspires them is a participation medal, juice box, and a Sony Playstation.

She’s got a picture riding the Portland elk, but just can’t find it.

Who really believes this? Bitter baby boomers, to start.

Older people without kids only see one thing: a world devoid of troubling children.

With the outside age limit for boomers crowding seventy, there’s plenty of room in selective memories for bitterness to take root.

Portland Moms Blog is here to slap a reminder in there: we might be millennials, we might be GenX, but we’re moms just like your mom when she had you.

So lighten up boomer moms and dads, there’s a new sheriff in town.

She’s smarter than a history museum.

Let’s watch them have a go at it. Will they home birth and home school?

Will they live urban or suburban? Small town or country?

Will they assess and adapt, or panic and collapse?

It looks good on Portland Moms Blog when one of the writers also runs The Half Ass Homemaker, with Half Assery and a lot of of Kick Assery.

A mom with a kick ass attitude? Sound familiar?

When a woman named Wynter contributes to Portland Moms Blog and runs a site called Mother to Mother, you know you’re in good hands.

These are online dynamos in their own right, and moms. Anyone who writes and parents knows the time crunch for either one.

By the end of the day you want to find quiet time, a chance to regroup and switch gears.

What better way then diving further into Portland?

You know how to play.

She never lets you win, but you still do.

You’ve got a tremendous site, Wynter, and a cool hippie name.

I’ve posted on the founder of Puppet Labs here in Portland. Turns out he’s a Reedie raised on a commune.

Some people are geared for the long haul, and it’s all a long haul.

      Thanks for coming in,

      David

  2. Thanks so much for the kind words! Great meeting you. Looking forward to checking out more of your blog.

  3. Thanks for mentioning the kick-assery at http://www.halfasshomemaker.com David! I appreciate the shout out. Also, I read your comment to Wynter, and while I boast no hippie name, I was born on The Farm in Tennessee. One of the original hippie communes and I haven’t strayed too far from my roots even if I’ve migrated to an easier state.

  4. David Gillaspie thanks for the shout out on Portland Moms blog & sharing the sister sites. “The City Moms Blog network of Sister Sites covers more territory than Johnny Cash singing I’ve Been Everywhere.” This comment made me chuckle among many others. Great article.

      Hi Rochelle,

Johnny Cash songs have so many surprises in them.

The images I took reminded me of the movie Big Fish.

Who would believe a city would have an elk statue right in the middle, or a statue that reaches down to you.

Like the critique of younger generations, it depends on the angle you look from.

You know what they day in writer school? “No chuckles in the writer means no chuckles in the reader.”
