MIKE ROWE WORKS MILLENNIALS

Mike Rowe gets down to business on Millennials. And Boomers.

Dear Mike,

I’ve seen your television work. It looks hard.

Sometimes it looks dirty and dangerous, hence the title, “Dirty Jobs,” and “Mike Rowe Works.”

The work you do on television feels very real, and needed.

However, your opinion on a ‘generation,’ and we know you’re talking about millennials, is too dirty.

The top image keeps showing up on facebook, so let’s get a few things straightened out.

For the most part, Mike, millennials are children of baby boomers. Like yourself.

Let’s talk about kids. After scrolling through your wiki page, your webpage, and other bio places, did I miss the part about wife and kids?

Maybe you missed them too, your wife and your kids.

Once you start ragging on a generation of losers the way you did in the top pic, one thing happens: You do a bad job.

No one wants to see you do a bad job, Mike, even if it’s only on television and isn’t real.

Mike Rowe works for the good, not the bad, and crashing on millennials is not good.

What is real, Mike, is doing a hard, dirty, job your whole life. That’s the definition of raising children in the modern world we share.

I can’t knock you for kids. Or no kids. If you keep your private life private, that’s good.

But if you’re a single man with no kids, why go out on a limb harping on our kids?

This is where most bloggers, most writers, most whackadoos, yes whackadoos, start glossing their own kids, parenting skills, and how much better they do it than others.

But boomerpdx isn’t that blog and I’m not that blogger.

Mike Rowe works to avoid the whackadoo tag.

Mike is no whackadoo, right?

You’re a man of many skills, a strong man willing to show the world what it’s like grinding through a television show of hard jobs and the people who do them.

We need more of that, more role models who ‘git ‘er done.’ Getting it done with kids, though, isn’t the same as play time. Or acting a master thespian role.

Children reflect the reality they’re raised in, don’t you agree? Or, would you agree if you had kids?

Mike Rowe works reproduction to churn out a generation of what? Of who?

If you’re saying your kids would be different than others, you’d be right.

If you said your kids would be just the same as other kids in their generation, you’d be right again.

Keep up the good work, Mike. Keep showing what it means to roll out at four in the morning like a timber faller, catch the crummy, and spend all day behind a chainsaw.

Show what it feels like and smells like on the slime line of a fish packing factory.

Let the ‘what me work’ generation know how to navigate the job of newspaper printing with a crew of bikers suspicious of your presence.

Then, when you find the time in your show schedule, say something to the Millennial’s Moms raising the next generation you’ll tag with poor education, no skill, no ambition, no guidance, and more no things you could have included.

Until then, Mike Rowe works to knock something he has more education, more skill, more ambition, and more guidance about.

Kids, and the adults they turn into, aren’t one of them.

So keep smiling Mike, and stick with show biz, not generational generalities. That won’t turn a frown upside down.
