SCIENCE EXPLAINED TO THE NON-SCIENTIST

via facebook.com

Some things need to be taken with a grain of salt, some with a whole salt box, but science explained for the non-scientific? Start shoveling, if general comments mean anything.

The Earth Is Not Flat?

Yes, it’s a discussion point, but for who? Who hasn’t seen something called a globe and something called a sheet of plywood. The globe is round, the plywood is flat.

If you spin the plywood at the speed the earth spins it might burn up. Or it might erode into a circular shape after going 1000 mph.

Vaccines Work?

From the World Health Organization:

A: Polio does still exist, although polio cases have decreased by over 99% since 1988, from an estimated more than 350 000 cases to 22 reported cases in 2017. This reduction is the result of the global effort to eradicate the disease. Today, only 3 countries in the world have never stopped transmission of polio (Pakistan, Afghanistan and Nigeria).

We’ve Been To The Moon?

If it was all faked, and Capricorn 1 is the basis of belief, where does it go from there? To O.J., where else. If the space capsule to Mars comes up short, you must abort.

Climate Change Is Real?

I hired a paving contractor in Arizona who took the time to explain the difference between climate change and global warming. With no sense of irony on a 110 degree day. The job didn’t turn out so great either.

The Universe Is Expanding?

I’ll depend on Stephen Hawking instead of a facebook expert.

Math Is The Universal Language?

As long as music has a place in the universe, math can take all the glory. But does it have a beat you can dance to?

Chemtrails Are Not A Thing?

Car exhaust is a thing. Jet exhaust is a thing. See where this is headed?

Evolution Is A Fact?

Fact or not, take a walk through the skull section of the Smithsonian and notice all of the changes from early man to our beautiful selves today. Somethings going on.

We Are All Made Of Stardust?

Far beyond Joni Mitchell and CSN singing about stardust, what else is there to explain where we are and what we do? Stardust is a good default. Superstar dust would be better, but I’m not complaining.

Explaining science to a non-scientist like me can’t be easy, but some things need to be taken on faith, on facts, on interest, and not some cock-eyed bullsh!t repeated by someone’s drunk uncle.
