AUTUMN LEAVES DANCE TO WHISPERING WINDS

autumn leaves

If trees are the answer, is the question “what do do with autumn leaves?” Stick with the trees for now.

They produce oxygen.

And they are beautiful, pulling neighborhoods together in a sharing way.

So, where is everybody who breathes my tree’s gas when this happens?

Being a good neighbor is more than saying hello and waving to cars passing.

It’s also keeping the peace when possible, like avoid using a two stroke leaf blower you can hear a mile away.

Go ahead and break out the rake and broom and make the rounds.

Rake the pavement and use a big metal dust pan along with the rake to scoop the beautiful autumn leaves all into the yard bin.

Then stomp them down and add more.

Still too messy?

Next, pull out the electrical blower, dial it to low, and walk it out as far as the line goes, and make little piles in a semi-circle.

The big piles were wrapped up earlier.

Get a push broom and dust pan for the big finish.

Looks better? I liked the autumn leaves on the ground, but there’s plenty more where those came from.

This special moment lasted until the next gentle breeze turned the cement and asphalt red again.

I call this photo spread “Tigard: Farmhand Style.”

Yard crews working on other houses in the neighborhood drive past on their turn-around. We wave to each other.

This action is played out on every street in America. If the leaves are dropping around you, post pics in comments.

What’s on your street, farmhand?
