FIRST YOU SCREW UP, THEN THE FALLOUT

screw up

When you screw up, you know it. At least you should know.

Something is broken, or lost, or stolen because of you?

After that the decisions start to pile up.

Tell others what happened? Admit to your self?

Or, pretend nothing happened, nothing to see, and move along.

Which one are you?

First, it’s important to know that your screw up is not isolated. Whether you want to admit it, people saw your mistake.

People heard about it and talk like they were there.

Suddenly a little thing grows out of control, and you’ve got a new name: Screw Up.

If a little kid makes a mistake, a parent or teacher can help them understand what happened and how to do better.

That’s how it’s supposed to work. Then a kid grows up unafraid of making mistakes when they try new things.

So what happens when that same kid is punished and shamed and banned from doing anything remotely similar to what they did?

How do you suppose that turns out? I have thoughts.

Evolution Of A Jackass

That’s the path for young screw up who then uses the same thing that frightens him most, namely getting railed for trying new things and failing, to frighten and threaten others the rest of their life.

If this nice kid grows up to be a bad man who does bad things and gets rewarded, the entire system of decent civilization takes a hit. Were they raised by wolves?

Do good things and others might try and do good things; do bad things and see who joins in.

After the biggest barge-load of NYC crap ran for president and won, look at his cabinet for administrative screw ups.

Their biggest job was kissing asses, with the biggest ass on constant display.

An old saying in a dysfunctional workplace goes like this: If the boss screws up all the time it gives everyone below them more leeway for their own misdeeds to go unaccounted for.

The problems start when accountability calls:

“We have evidence to prove you did what we say you did.”

“No, you don’t.”

That’s no response for plausible deniability. You can’t just say, “Huh uh,” and everything goes away.

A Responsible Man Owns Their Screw Up

This man sees a problem, works on a solution, and applies it.

If nothing works, they start over; If part of their solution works they keep it in play when they start over.

Who screws up, calls it a huge success, and continues to screw up on such a grand scale that nearly a million people die from a virus the Big Man had no idea about while he continued to promote his weird-assed medical notions on a vulnerable public?

Did you guess Donald Trump? If you did, don’t forget the toadies on his bandwagon.

The names John Bolton and William Barr have books out and they’re doing interviews.

“We saw the problems and knew what was wrong, but we didn’t do much.”

Barr is a piece of work when he says he’d vote for Trump in 2024 because as a Republican . . .

Too many big conservative swinging D’s are having difficulty separating from their daddy Trump.

They’re taking the king of shit-talk at his word and spreading it as far as possible.

Who would have guessed their work would resonate so well on Russian TV like big Mike Pompeo.

Irresponsible Man Accepts No Responsibility

Before he put on the red lipstick for Putin, Trump make himself clear.

Covid was a hoax before he got it. Did he have any remorse for leading too many people down his own personal rathole of medical nonsense?

That’s a hole to avoid, a bottomless pit.

He said he had no dealings with Russia or Putin. Does he have any regret or remorse over the invasion of Ukraine?

If he does he showed it in his own twisted way by calling Putin “a savvy genius.”

Are there any signs that his party boys who keep coming to his Florida place for approval will ever wake up to see the wreckage in their wake?

Their short sightedness today paves the way for their regret and remorse tour later to explain how blind they were, but now they see.

Do we see the same things? High officials acting so high that they are above any responsibility for their actions.

One high official from the past met with his constituents during time of war. They executed him for starters, then hung his dead body upside down in the town square for citizens to spit on and whack with sticks

Who was this great leader? Hint: he was a dramatic Italian.

An Honest Mistake For A Screw Up

Free at last? Not so fast.

“Mussolini was in a cottage on a hill outside Dongo with his mistress. When he saw the Italian officers coming toward him he thought they had come to free him and he threw his arms happily around the woman.”

His happiness was short lived.

“When he was told that he was going to be tried he was shocked. But our men under an officer gave them both a trial and condemned them to death.

“When he heard the death sentence Mussolini cried:

“Let me save my life and I will give you an empire!”

The Italian empire he left behind was one occupied by Germany in WWII. But he wanted a second chance.

“The jury some hours later examined the other Fascists and my men shot them all together in the Dongo town square. Among them was the brother of Mistress Petacci. When they were led out to be shot, Petacci tried to escape but he was shot down.

“These men died well. Mussolini died badly.”

Among the men shot with Mussolini were Alessandro Pavolini, Francesco Barraco, Paolo Zerbino, Fernando Mezzasoma, Ruggero Romano, Augusto Liverani, Goffredo Coppola, Paolo Porta, Luigi Gatti, Ernesto Daquanno, Mario Nudi and Nicola Bombacci.

When the slow wheels of justice finally grind Trump into the dust of history, who will be along for that ride? When you screw up by making the same mistakes and trying to normalize the outcome, bad things happen. How bad?
