McNAMARA’S MORONS? WE’RE ALL MORONS WITH GUN LAWS

McNAMARA'S MORONS

McNamara’s Morons was a government program for filling the enlisted ranks during the Vietnam War.

But, that wasn’t the official name of the program.

In 1967, Defense Secretary Robert McNamara lowered military recruiting standards as part of a program called Project 100,000.

Doesn’t Project 100,000 sound better than McNamara’s Morons.

Its goal, as the name suggests, was to recruit 100,000 men each year who were otherwise mentally, physically or psychologically underqualified for service. These men all had IQs below 91, and nearly half had IQs below 71.

I served with guys I wondered about, guys who couldn’t do things normally, like pulling themselves across a wide, deep, ditch on a rope stretched from side to side, like climbing up and down a cargo net hanging over a platform three stories high.

It never crossed my mind that I was going to graduate school with those guys, but we all graduated boot camp.

Looking back over the span of forty-eight years, I’m adding those two years as early grad school ‘before’ I got my history degree. The early phase of the All Volunteer Army taught lessons you’d never get anywhere else.

Are We All McNamara’s Morons?

Look at the picture again. That’s Robert McNamara, Vietnam War architect.

That face, that hair, those glasses. Men that take so much care with their ‘look’ think everyone’s a moron.

That was the look of a Harvard MBA, business professor, and Whiz Kid. He developed bomb pattern analysis to show US progress in Japan during WWII, then ‘body count’ analysis to show US progress in Vietnam.

Based on the concept of McNamara’s Morons, his strong suit is putting other people’s kids at risk, even if they don’t quite understand what’s going on.

Moron Gun Laws

Today, with the ease of gun ownership, people who’d qualify as McNamara’s Morons put others in their community at risk.

The ripple effect goes across the nation when one of them sees the attention of a man shooting.

What motivates some people we’ll never know, but we do know how they act out.

And we know their preferred weapon.

If the statistics are correct, the pie graph looks like something from McNamara’s Morons spin room.

“Mass Shooting Account Only 0.1% Of Firearm Homicides.”

Small children in schools, worshippers in church, grocery shoppers in a store are ONLY 0.1%.

What would McNamara’s Morons say?

“That’s an acceptable loss, boss.”

There Is Nothing Acceptable About These Losses

Gray faced old men with soft hands make laws according to the will of the people.

Sometimes they sign laws we don’t understand. If you have the power to raise campaign money that furthers your career objectives by voting for bad gun laws, is that the people’s will?

Is voting for ideology instead of the good of the people who sent you to make better laws the will of the people?

Speaking for ‘The People’, we don’t want some moron, a McNamara’s Moron kind of moron, deciding today is the day for their time to shine and go out fighting

From 2012 to the present, there have been 540 school shooting incidents nationwide that resulted in at least one victim killed or wounded, according to data compiled by the Center for Homeland Defense and Security at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. That includes 43 incidents in Texas, 41 in California, 37 in Illinois, 31 in Florida and 26 in Pennsylvania.

Law makers are voted in to protect the weakest links in society, the most vulnerable, to bolster the needy, to give hope.

Who can bring those sort of candidate forward?

The power of the Millennial vote. As the largest generation in America it would behove them to vote in mass numbers for candidates willing to send more than thoughts and prayers to parents around the nation missing their slain children.

Imagine learning your son, who was a little slow, was sent to Vietnam to die based on a loophole, a special program initiated by a statistical analyst.

Now imagine the moms and dads today sending their kids to third grade knowing the pale, soft, men in Washington DC, men like the Senate minority leader and his suck-ups, won’t address domestic terrorism.

For the kids, stop voting for morons.
