OREGON DUCKS FOOTBALL FLASHBACK: IT’S HOW YOU FINISH

Oregon ducks

The Oregon Ducks played an opponent out of the Power Five conferences for the first game of the 2021 season.

It was a tune-up for the biggest game on the schedule: Ohio State next week.

They were supposed to roll in, roll up the score, and bore us half to death with plays called and plays executed.

It was a tie game going into the fourth quarter.

Turns out Fresno State got the message instead of the Oregon Ducks.

Fresno State is no whipping post with six D1 players transferring in for the season. The Ducks pulled away for the win, but it was awkward.

The win came with two injured stars on defense, a transfer quarterback showing a hiccup in his low throwing motion, and the sort of game plan that could easily result in a loss.

But I’m not complaining. I get that you can’t how your whole offense on the Saturday before the Buckeyes.

What was troubling is how the Bulldogs O-line gave their guy time to set up and throw. Oregon is supposed to be full of size, strength, and attitude. More than Fresno State, but they had a load too.

Next week will show how good Oregon can be. UCLA just beat LSU and they play Fresno State next week with the Ducks in Columbus.

How it all turns out is why we watch sports. We watch with all hope that the rest of the season won’t look like UW playing Montana.

What. The. Hell?
