RAINBOW ROCKS FOR BOOMERS

SAM_0093

For some reason baby boomers love digging in the dirt.

Maybe we’ve all got a part of the farmer gene.

As we get older the ground gets further away and we make up excuses.

“It’s not the right season.”

“It’s raining.”

“We don’t have a shovel.”

But you know you want to turn the earth, to have your way with dirt.

One way to keep it under control is raised beds. You can work them with a trowel.

Plant a few skunk cabbages. They have big leaves and never die.

Spice them up with rainbow rocks. The look like over sized aquarium rocks and sparkle in the sun.

But only when they’re wet.

Since it’s a garden bed you’ll be watering so they’ll be wet. Then it’s garden art.

Tip a big pot over to make it look like the rocks fell out, then add little pots as if they sprung up.

It’s easy, pretty, and changes all the time. Just like baby boomers.

Did life used to be so hard with two cats in the yard? It just got easier.
