VOTE BLUE FOR A BETTER YOU, MILLENNIALS

vote blue

Vote Blue ‘for a chance’ to be a better you is more like it.

“But what’s a better me, BoomerPdx?”

Sure, go ahead and ask a blogger that question and don’t be too surprised at the answer.

Is there a right answer?

First, if that’s your thing, taking blogger advice, find the right one.

For instance, a blogger with long history, with over three thousand posts, is a good bet over a new kid on the block racing up the ladder of Facebook likes, tweets, and retweets.

New people hide behind a persona, an online identity, before ‘coming out’ as their authentic self.

“LEARN TO BE A SIX FIGURE A MONTH INFLUENCER IN FIVE MINUTES,” turns into a mouthpiece for a specious character building an email list to solicit dark money funding.

“SKIP COLLEGE AND LEARN EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT KILLING IT EVERY DAY FOR UNBELIEVABLE RESULTS ON MY VIDEO,’ turns into a data harvester collecting personal info for nefarious bad actors.

Who are these specious characters and bad actors? Check your email spam. Do you receive emails without consent?

One of my regulars is from Tactical Sh!t. Why?

Easy answer: Either I’m in need of tactical shit and don’t know it, or someone harvested my email.

One response is, ‘I must need a gun since I’m getting gun purchase emails,’ or, ‘why is there no opt out on this email pollution.’

Millennials Vote Blue To The Rescue

As my blog title explains, I’m a boomer, a baby boomer.

Call me a Portland baby boomer.

Does this mean I’m read by hoards of educated boomers trying to make sense of the 2022 midterm elections?

Nope.

From what I see and hear, boomers are pretty set in their views. Which is a sad thing.

And we grew up with shitty Richard Nixon dicking around.

As hard as he got tagged with Watergate, he did do the right thing in 1960 when JFK won by a slim margin.

Nixon could have gone on a bender of revenge and hate, but said he stepped aside for the good of the country.

And this was a man who liked to shovel dirt behind the scenes.

After eight years as Eisenhower’s VP, he was ready for his big moment. And lost to Kennedy.

Two years later he was ready again and lost his race for California governor to Pat Brown.

Then, six years later he won the Presidency after incumbent LBJ said he was finished, wouldn’t run, and if selected at the Democratic Convention, would not serve.

Nobody was going to draft President Johnson, although he’d drafted plenty of kids to serve in Vietnam.

Remember this while filling out your ballot:

Voting Blue As A Job Interview

By now, you Millennials have had job interviews.

Some have gone better than others, but remember the job you interviewed for, the job you got hired for, the job you went to school for, then on the first day you’re assigned to do something different than promised, different than expected?

And you adjusted your expectations like an adult instead of storming around and melting down until you couldn’t function emotionally.

You had high hopes, and they got dashed.

The hard truth is you learned to be a better candidate next time out.

Politics run the same way. There are over one hundred and fifty posts with #politics here.

You could learn something by hitting that link, but we’ll cover it here, too.

Can you vote republican without thinking of Trump and ties to his rallies, his continued insistence he won in 2020, and his endorsed candidates who continue to fawn over him?

They aren’t the first wolves to try on sheep’s clothing. Looking at the Supreme Court here.

While you need to dial up your bullshit detector to full force during important elections, believe what you see before using a blue or black ink pen on a candidate.

Give each person the same grilling you get at job interviews and you’ve done your part to vote blue.

A Better You Looks Like This:

Let’s talk about trauma. Do you know trauma?

Trauma is when you spend the night in ICU for observation after your heart skips a beat listening to someone harder than you’ve ever listened to anyone.

It’s when the new muscles showing up after neck exercises turn out to be a fucking cancer tumor.

When the small spot on the side of your face turns into a cancer operation that peels your face back.

It’s when you feel something different in your breast, and you know the rest: Cancer, again.

It happens, and when it does, people need hope to recover, along with aggressive treatment, which can be a painful experience for everyone from patient, to family, to friends.

Imagine the sick-to-your-soul feeling when someone you care about has a pregnancy related problem and doctors can’t treat them due to political decisions.

And they die.

Who can say women don’t deserve to make their own health care decisions? That they need approval from their local politician?

Start there when you consider which candidate you want to invite under the sheet while you’re in the stirrups.

Vote blue to keep interested parties in their lane, not yours.

Lindsey Graham of South Carolina wants you to know he’s ready.

Millennials, take his words at face value this time.

Show his party the error of their ways.
