HEARTFELT TRIBUTES ON SOCIAL MEDIA? OR . . .

Heartfelt Tributes

Heartfelt tributes come in a stunning array of mediums.

The key is the message and who it’s for.

You find the sweet tributes on Facebook, twitter, instagram, or all three and more.

Delivering the heartfelt tributes has never been easier.

It wasn’t always this way:

The top image has been academically interpreted, dated, and examined by knot heads on social media.

“The top half is a robbery committed by criminals with old growth wood. The bottom half is someone being nagged by their wife to go to the grocery store.”

What do you see?

Whatever’s going on, it’s ancient, which makes it interesting enough to look at.

For the fans of history, if someone in a tribal group has the time and skills to paint a wall instead of killing everything in sight, defending their cave, or trying to start a fire, then it suggests stability in the cultural unit.

That’s one takeaway.

From Cave Walls To Bumper Stickers

Heartfelt Tributes

This was the traveling social media of it’s day, like a cave wall on the road.

If you have a strong opinion on anything, there’s a bumper sticker for you.

The header image above is a catch-all of a scattered mind. If it looks good, stick it on.

I like a planned theme better, like a camper or camp trailer with a map of America that comes with state stickers you can fill in for each state you’ve been to.

When I see one of those I look for ‘Four Corners.’

From Tips For Family Trips:

Four Corners Monument is the spot where Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona meet. The Navajo and Ute nations both overlap the United States at this point. Thousands of visitors travel to this remote monument each year.

If a goal is to fill up the map of America on your trailer with state stickers, this is a four in one stop.

That’s what you get when state boundaries are defined not by natural barriers like a river, but by surveyors. They get it wrong sometimes:

A few years ago, it was reported in the media that the spot where the four states meet is actually 2.5 miles west of the monument. What!? Who wants to visit Four Corners if it isn’t really Four Corners?

I looked into this to find that the original surveyor, using the best tools available in 1868, missed where the spot should have been by about 1800 feet, not 2.5 miles.

Would the wrong locartion matter to the state sticker collector? Should it?

The marker was placed and accepted by the U.S. Congress, and from that time forward, the marker has been the legal divider between the four states. So it doesn’t matter where it should have been, because the marker is legally the exact spot where the four states meet today.

Close enough counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and state boundaries?

Cave Walls To Car Takes A Personal Turn

Heartfelt Tributes

Moms and dads like to show the kids off. And they should.

I want to know your grade school kid is in the TAG program, your middle schooler is on the honor roll, your high schooler graduated.

I get this because I was as pumped up on kid-pride as any dad in town.

One of my big moments was watching my kids wearing a speedo swim suit on a homecoming parade float.

They were as funny a sight as I’ve seen and had a big time with it driving through town.

Who does that? Great kids, water polo team kids.

It was their ride, their time, and didn’t need any push or interpretation from anyone or anything.

The memory of them whooping it up isn’t forgotten around here. I just asked my wife if she remembered.

She did, and said it was the best float in the parade.

Is there a decal or bumper sticker celebrating half-naked athletes? A vase?

Yes there is.

Celebrities Post The Best Heartfelt Tributes

Heartfelt Tributes

If tracking celebrity fashion and behavior is an important part of your day, as it should be, then you know them for their earnestness.

Michael Douglas, son of Kirk, husband to Catherine, celebrate their kid’s birthday the right way on social media.

The Douglas family says:

“To my darling Carys, wishing you a happy birthday! Now that you are leaving your teens, may this be a wonderful New Year for you darling! I love you, Dad,”

“20 years ago today my daughter Carys came in to my arms and there is not a day I haven’t cherished,” Zeta-Jones captioned an Instagram. “Happy birthday beautiful lady🎂♥️🎂.”

Actors acting like parents? Acting like they know their kids? Like they spend time with them?

The kids know they love them, that they’re beautiful and treasured. Every day.

Now we know too.

And it makes us want to do the same, because? Because it seems nice enough.

Unless you have the sort of selfish kids who want their own identity, not one tied to anyone else, like mom and dad.

They want to see you, not read about not seeing you because you had more important things to do so you post heartfelt tributes on social media.

This is what my kids taught me: If I want them in my life, then that’s enough.

Talk together, cook together, drink together, eat together.

Leave them off twitter, Facebook, instagram, and everyplace else.

Why? Because the stench of constant online shit-talking overwhelms most messages.

The space between reality and fantasy is too small to measure at times.

What does it take to respect such wishes?

Be a good mom and dad to start and go from there. You’ll know if you screw up.

“Where is everybody?”

“They’re on Facebook, twitter, and instagram. You know, social media with heartfelt tributes.”

“I want to see them in person.”

“They posted pictures so it’s the same thing. You are so old fashioned. Besides, we’re busy.”

“We’re watching TV.”

“And we won’t have to stop.”

“I don’t mind stopping.”

“That’s what you say now.”
